Coach Alvey In China

Head coach Molly Alvey was recently selected to serve as one of three coaches on the Bring It Promotions (BIP)/USA Development Blue Team for the China-USA Challenge Invitational June 7-20, in Beijing, China.
With her trip underway, Alvey and the BIP staff have sent photo updates of theirfirst days in Beijing.

ABOUT CHINA-USA CHALLENGE INVITATIONAL

The event brings together two teams of top-level collegiate players that trained at the Anaheim Sports Center, June 7-8. They departed for Beijing, China on June 9 where they will compete against the top Chinese collegiate and club teams, as well as the Chinese Youth National Team.

The delegation from the USA will consist of 24 players and six coaches, as well as Tim Kelly from BIP who will serve as the Head of Delegation.

Alvey will serve as one of three coaches on the Blue Team, along with Santiago Restrepo of Oklahoma and Kathy Jewell of Purdue. Reed Sunahara of Cincinnati, Joe Sagula of North Carolina and Kimberly Martinez of Marshall will coach the Red Team.

In addition to playing volleyball, the group will tour the Beijing National Stadium and Olympic Village, visit the Great Wall and the Forbidden City, shop at the Beijing Pear Market and attend cultural shows such as the Chinese Gungfu and Acrobatics.

Molly Alvey to Coach at China-USA Challenge Invitational

Head volleyball coach Molly Alvey will travel to Beijing, China, June 7-20, to serve as one of three coaches on the Bring It Promotions (BIP)/USA Development Blue Team for the China-USA Challenge Invitational.

The event will bring together two teams of top-level collegiate players that will train at the Anaheim Sports Center, June 7-8. They will depart for Beijing, China on June 9 where they will compete against the top Chinese collegiate and club teams, as well as the Chinese Youth National Team.
The delegation from the USA will consist of 24 players and six coaches, as well as Tim Kelly from BIP who will serve as the Head of Delegation.

Purdue, Oklahoma, Cincinnati and North Carolina all finished the 2010 season ranked in the top 25 of the NCAA Women's Volleyball RPI.

"One of my favorite hobbies outside of volleyball is traveling," Alvey said. "I love international travel, learning about new cultures and meeting new people and what makes this trip so special is that I am going with colleagues that are also friends. We will be coaching at a high level and it's an environment that I can learn in as well."

Following her trip in June, Alvey will also travel with the A2 Junior National Team to the 2011 European Global Challenge, July 12-23.
