Volleyball Adds Two
The University of Houston volleyball team and head coach Molly Alvey announce the signing of two athletes for the 2010 season.
Christine Pinder and Kacy Griffin will join the Cougars' squad for the upcoming school year and Alvey's first season at the helm of the UH volleyball program.
Pinder, a senior at F.W. Buchholz High School in Gainseville, Fla., will be a defensive specialist and outside hitter for Houston. She was named the 2010 Player of the Year and was a First Team All-Area selection twice. Her team was also the 2008 Class 6A State Champion. In addition to playing volleyball, Pinder volunteers within her community.
Pinder is the daughter of Claude and Shari Pinder.
Griffin, a senior at Ronald Reagan High School in San Antonio, Texas, will be a setter for the Cougars. She was an All-District selection in 2009 and was named to the 5A All-Area Team the same season. Pinder was also a three-time winner of the Coach's Award. Her club team, Alamo Volleyball, finished 15th in the state and second at the AAU Nationals in 2009.
Griffin is the daughter of Paul and Kim Griffin.
